Ah The Bulldog Northeast, one of my favorite places to get a drink and nachos. Known for their array of beers, especially of the Belgian variety, this is a great place to eat, drink, and watch a game. There are four Bulldogs in the Twin Cities, but this one is the best in my opinion because of the ambiance and food menu. The stainless bar is the center of the bright space with over 20 taps that rotate frequently.
Rich and I popped in this past Friday for happy hour and snagged some seats in the crowded establishment. We were quite pleased to find a good selection of brews we hadn’t seen elsewhere, including Victory DirtWolf Imperial IPA and a gueuze – which is never on tap. St. Louis Gueuze Lambic, I believe. We’ve been on a Belgian beer kick lately so that brightened our spirits on a chilly and cloudy day.
So about those nachos. they are not your typical crappy bar nachos, they are actually made with nice ingredients and feel a bit more Mexican (even though nobody in Mexico eats nachos). Tender beef brisket is layered on chips with queso fresco, pickled onions, diced jalapenos, then served with fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, and a cilantro crema on the side. I will say this photo doesn’t do them justice, but I guarantee that they are DELICIOUS! Pouring Cholula over them is a must as well.
I really wish I had some nachos now that I’m talking about it. I have a mild obsession with them and these are by far my favorite in town. Do you have nacho recommendations? Let me know!
